The Story

The Challenge

Nomads Hostel is a global brand, newly launched in Thailand — but they came to us burned by agencies that promised big and delivered nothing. They needed real content that would actually engage guests and drive direct sales, breaking their dependence on OTA bookings.

Our Approach

Content built around solo travellers — things to do in Thailand, travel tips, vlog-style pieces featuring their own reps and managers on camera. Meta ads ran directly to their website, selling the adventure and experience Nomads offers — not just dorm beds.

The Result

Followers grew from 400 to 1,400 organically in months, with Meta ad campaigns consistently pulling 5%+ CTR — well above the hospitality industry average. During this period, Nomads' Thailand properties won 5 Hoscar Awards, including Best Hostel in Thailand and Best Hostel in Asia — independent recognition that the brand-building was working, not just the numbers.

In Detail

What We Ran

UGC strategy — guest-shot material carries a credibility that produced content cannot buy.

Social media built for solo travellers rather than for the property.

Meta Ads pointed at the brand’s own site, not at a listing.

Direct booking funnel so the demand created had somewhere to convert.

Why Hostels Cannot Win on Price

Every OTA sorts hostels by cost. Competing there means the ceiling is set by whoever is willing to earn least.

Selling the experience — the people, the location, what the week actually feels like — moves the decision somewhere price comparison cannot reach.

It also changes who books. Guests who choose on experience complain less, review better, and come back.

If You Run a Hostel or Small Property

The direct-booking economics are covered in reducing OTA dependence, and the overseas-guest side in targeting international buyers.

Being findable locally matters just as much — see ranking on Google Maps in Thailand.

If you have been burned by an agency before, ask for the metric that predicts scale, not the one that flatters the report.
